New Youth Worker

Hi my names Dave Hannah and I’m the new Youth Worker at Capel Methodist Church . I’ve been asked to write and introduce myself to let you know what I hope to be doing in Capel over the next few months.
I’m 26, my favourite food is… well meat really, I like playing squash (but I’m shockingly bad!), I’ve got an awesome old VW Polo Classic that doesn’t really look like the General Lee from the Dukes of Hazard but I let myself believe it does.
Ok down to business, I almost feel guilty (almost) about being paid to do this job because the young people I work with are already awesome, and I think I get more out of being around them, than they do me! Until earlier this year I never wanted to be a Youth Worker. I loved being a helper at Youth Groups but didn’t really want the job full time. Luckily that all changed!
I believe the people who impact us the most in life (for the good) are the people who don’t want anything from us, they just love us. They don’t judge us because they understand that we are all just learning. They support us, and guide us in life for no payment other than knowing us. They want to be around us as we are, even if we never change a day in our lives (even though we often need to). That’s exactly why I came to Capel. I’ve been privileged enough to have a couple of people in my life like that and I want give that back.
A mate of mine has this fridge magnet, it says: “a friend is someone who sings with you on the mountain tops, and walks silently behind you in the valleys”. That’s what we want the Youth Group to be about! Enjoying, exploring, and loving life with each other when it’s good. And supporting, walking with, and loving each other when it isn’t!
The Youth Group is called LIFE and is going to kick off with a Friday night Youth club and other socials.
If you want to know more about Fridays @ LIFE or about anything else we are going to be doing then give me a ring or send me an e-mail on the below details
